Ten Ways Any Person Can Reduce Carbon Emissions and Fight Global Warming
- Use compact fluorescent bulbs as much as possible.
- Drive Less. Be mindful of car trips. Plan errands as much as possible so as to accomplish the most tasks on one car trip.
- Shut off lights when not using them and turn off televisions and computers when not using them.
- Turn the furnace down.
- Turn the air conditioner up and only use it when absolutely necessary.
- Buy a fuel efficient vehicle, especially hybrid vehicles because they are available.
- Hang laundry out to dry instead of using the dryer whenever possible. With global warming, summer is even hotter. Instead of using power to run a dryer that makes the home warmer and causes the air conditioner to run more, hang the laundry outside.
- Always vote for environmentally-oriented candidates.
- If financially possible, invest in solar or wind power generation for a home or business.
- Convert a diesel engine vehicle to one that runs on used vegetable oil fuel. The emissions are much cleaner and less toxic and the engines reportedly run better.
