I have lived here before
In days of ice.
And I came back to find
The stars displaced,
And the smell of a world
That is burned.
Yeah, well, maybe it's just a change of climate....

by Jimi Hendrix from the song "Up From The Skies"

Ten Ways Any Person Can Reduce Carbon Emissions and Fight Global Warming

  1. Use compact fluorescent bulbs as much as possible.
  2. Drive Less. Be mindful of car trips. Plan errands as much as possible so as to accomplish the most tasks on one car trip.
  3. Shut off lights when not using them and turn off televisions and computers when not using them.
  4. Turn the furnace down.
  5. Turn the air conditioner up and only use it when absolutely necessary.
  6. Buy a fuel efficient vehicle, especially hybrid vehicles because they are available.
  7. Hang laundry out to dry instead of using the dryer whenever possible. With global warming, summer is even hotter. Instead of using power to run a dryer that makes the home warmer and causes the air conditioner to run more, hang the laundry outside.
  8. Always vote for environmentally-oriented candidates.
  9. If financially possible, invest in solar or wind power generation for a home or business.
  10. Convert a diesel engine vehicle to one that runs on used vegetable oil fuel. The emissions are much cleaner and less toxic and the engines reportedly run better.
